Former ITV News At Ten anchor will join list of previous recipients, including Lord Bragg and Richard Curtis
Sir Trevor McDonald – the face of ITV news for many years – is to be honoured at the TV Baftas. The former News at Ten anchor and presenter of Tonight will be given the Academy Fellowship at the event on Sunday. He joins figures such as Lord Bragg, Sir David Jason and Richard Curtis who have previously gained the highest honour at the annual ceremony. It is being awarded to recognise his "outstanding and exceptional contribution to television". The 71-year-old presenter, who described the award as a " magnificent surprise", has interviewed many leading figures including Nelson Mandela, Bill Clinton, George Bush, and Saddam Hussein.
