• An article about illegal news-gathering at the News of the World contained this sentence regarding the tapping of Rebekah Brooks's telephone during her time as editor of the Sun (2003-2009): "The Home Office warrant to intercept her phone calls is likely to have been signed by the then home secretary David Blunkett, whose own voicemail messages were then intercepted by the News of the World, according to journalists who worked there." Mr Blunkett has asked the Guardian to make clear that at no time that he was home secretary did he "authorise or seek to authorise others to take any such action against a journalist or senior manager in the print or broadcast media" (Phone hacking: Rebekah Brooks faces questioning, 11 April, guardian.co.uk).

• The winners' names for prize crossword 25,316 failed to appear in the paper of 16 May, page 35 (although in the course of that morning they were published on the relevant website page – guardian.co.uk/crosswords). The winners are: B Cowling, Old Town, Gateside, Cupar, Fife; J Taylor, Market Harborough, Leicestershire; J Duncan, Shipley, West Yorkshire; C & D Hopkins, South Ascot, Berks; PF Ray, E Twickenham, Middlesex.

• A television preview for the evening of 16 May mentioned a BBC4 series on canal walks ... but got the name of the engineering highlight of this particular episode wrong: the "Cairn Hill locks" on the Kennet & Avon canal should have been the Caen Hill locks (Watch this, 16 May, page 26, G2).
