Your article on the woes of Visa holders trying to buy tickets for the great over-hyped jolly being held in the East End of London next year (Card games become an Olympic sport, Money, 19 March) concluded: "Some will wonder where it's all going to end. Will you be prevented from entering one of the Games venues if you are carrying a brand of cola, crisps or chocolate that hasn't stumped up cash?"
You betcha. The terms and conditions of ticket purchase give "a non-exhaustive list of … items which may not be taken into a Venue … alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages (save for baby milk and other valid medical reasons), liquids in containers of greater than 100ml in size … bottles or containers made of glass or other material, flasks, thermoses".
Even if you've brought a bottle of sponsor-cola, you'll have to leave it at the gate and buy what you need to keep cool in the August heat at the on-site franchises (at no doubt inflated prices).
