The Australian, 71, treated at Addenbrooke's hospital in Cambridge after being diagnosed in 2010
Clive James, the Australian television presenter and critic, has leukaemia, it has emerged. James, 71, was diagnosed with the illness in January 2010. His wife, Prue Shaw, an academic, said her husband was being treated at Addenbrooke's hospital in Cambridge. Luke Slattery, editor of the Australian Literary Review, said James had been forced to ration his time to work on several book projects, including a second volume of Cultural Amnesia. James, who has two daughters, has lived in England since leaving Sydney in 1961 and has worked as columnist for The Observer, as well as television critic.
